✧ end of year fandom meme ✧ → favourite ships

1) SanSan (Sansa Stark x Sandor Clegane) – from the A Song of Ice and Fire series (book-version ONLY). The Little Bird and the Hound…the OTP that got me hooked on fanfiction in the first place, and the one that, no matter what, will always have a stronghold within my heart.

2) Bethyl (Beth Greene x Daryl Dixon) – from that terrible show that shall remain nameless, my achingly beautiful post-apocalyptic OTP of otps, and the pairing I’ve written the most fic for in recent years.

3) Anidala (Anakin Skywalker x Padme Amidala) – from the Star Wars Prequels and Clone Wars animated series. This one might come as a surprise to those who know me solely for the pairings listed above, but my love for these two as individuals, for their secret, intense forbidden romance, and for their glorious, devastating galactic apocalypse of a tragedy knows no bounds. To me, the cosmic embodiment of ‘Death and the Maiden’.

And last but most certainly not least, the fictional relationship that I think about almost constantly, all day and everyday....

4) Snips and Skyguy (Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano) – from The Clone Wars animated series. My all-time favourite ‘Master and Apprentice’ relationship, and the brotp I ‘ship’ as hard as any romantic pairing — so much so, I refer to them as my ‘OTF’, aka my ‘One True Friendship’. There are few fictional relationships I have bawled my heart out over more. 10/10 would die for them. :')

I hadn't checked the stats on my Ao3 in a while, but today I happened to glance at them and noticed that Between the Fire and the Sky (my slow-burn Bethyl longfic) had reached 20, 000 hits! :O

Might not seem like a big deal to some, but that is by far the most hits any fic of mine has ever had (or will likely ever have, lol). BtFatS is my 'baby', so I'm just incredibly touched to see that people are still reading (and re-reading) it. :')

Herein is a list of all the various fanworks I've started, completed, and/or posted this year, including fics, edits, and a few commissions/collaborations. I've been feeling so incredibly down about all that I've failed to complete this year, so I'm trying to focus on what I did I manage to do (rather than the perhaps unrealistic amount of things I'd hoped to finish). :P

Most of these are viewable on the Bethyl and Fire & Sky sections of my tumblr, but since they are mixed together with works from last year, I thought I'd gather together everything from 2015 into one big list.

Also included toward the end are a couple of fic rec lists as well as my top five favourite fics that I read in 2015. Just off the top of my head, the ones that have stuck with me the most vividly. :)

We all know it. The way he looks at her, that intense gaze. From early on there are glimpses of it: in the way he watches her singing for the group; in the way he hovers at the doorway of her cell, observing her, for a moment, in secret. And of course, all the subsequent glances he casts her way during their time on the run. Looks that could chill. Looks that could burn. But what is behind those looks? We all know the famous line from 'Still', when Beth tells him: "I know you look at me and you just see another dead girl." At that stage, she has a point: Daryl is unable to focus on anything other than all his various (perceived) failings. All the 'dead girls' he could not save, and his crippling fear that she will be next. Obviously, we know that during the course of 'Still', Daryl comes to see Beth in a much different light. At the end of 'Still' and during 'Alone', his longing gazes, his demeanor, and his tender, thoughtful attentions to her demonstrate his high regard for her. But what about before? What about the time before the fall of the prison, before they had (seemingly) lost everything? And what about before that? Did Daryl really always look at Beth and just see 'another dead girl'?

Greetings to whomever might still be out there. :)

Despite everything, my Beth/Daryl obsession shows no signs of waning anytime soon.

For a gazillion reasons which I've explained over and over here, I don't watch TWD anymore. I have zero intention of ever doing so ever again. The implications of the so-called 'storytelling' choices disturb me on so many levels and make me physically ill to even contemplate, so I would therefore ask kindly that anyone commenting on my posts from here on out refrain from mentioning the show in its current state (in terms of plot details, etc. Please. I just....don't wanna know).

This pretty much sums up my feels:

Burn it down....oh yeeeah. ;)

But obviously when it comes to shipping these two, I still ship 'em. Oh yes. So. Damn. Hard.

Currently working on a variety of Bethyl fics, mostly WIPs I started last year but never finished due to being thrown (temporarily) off my game by the idiotic showrunner's idea of what passes for 'canon'. (A subject upon which I shall not speak, ever again.)

Most recently, I *finally* managed to get some unbroken writing time to finish/post two one shots. They run semi-concurrently and can be read together I suppose:

Transcendence (Beth PoV, set during 'Slabtown')

From Earth I Rose (Daryl PoV, set during 'Us')

That's all for now, though I've got about 10+ WIPs in my drafts still! Eeek! How the hell did that happen? I don't know that all of them will necessarily see the light or be worth finishing, but I'm going to try. Hopefully will have some more writing time this weekend, but we shall see...

Unfortunately, I'm still trying to work out what direction to take 'All That Remains' (the continuation of BtFatS). I've been stalled for months due to indecisiveness. I had an idea of where to take the story back when I started it (or rather began to continue it), but I keep second guessing myself and my storytelling abilities. Everything ends up rather dark indeed. While I think Bethyl as a pairing should always have some dark and/or bittersweet element to it, I'm just not sure how much more angst I really can really handle at this point. The Fire & Sky-verse has always been my 'happy place', so I'm torn. But I can't help it, I'm a bittersweet soul myself with more than a little twinge of melancholy darkness, so everything I do generally ends up infused with that sort of vibe. I will have to ruminate on it a little longer. In the meantime, I will try to finish a certain shameless porn-without-plot fic I started back during Bethyl Smut Week, because, well....just because. :P

For those who've been waiting impatiently for the next chapter of 'All That Remains', here's a lil somethin'. The great unfbadger has just posted a mind-blowing piece inspired by a certain er, climactic moment from Chapter 3. ;)
